The Journey
The Bond That Built a Nation
Through my own experience working and training alongside my service dog, Åusmund, I saw the power of structure, discipline, and partnership. I saw how the right support system can restore confidence and create stability. But I also saw how confusing and unregulated the service dog space can be — especially for women veterans trying to do everything right.
That is why I care.
Service Dog Nation was built to bring clarity where there is confusion.
To promote responsible standards where there is misinformation.
To build community where there is isolation.
This isn’t just an organization.
It is a response to what I witnessed.
And I refuse to let women veterans navigate it alone.
;IGY6 — We will always have your six.
This journey began with watching friends struggle after service — and realizing how quickly support can disappear once the uniform comes off.
I saw strong women trying to navigate life without clear answers. Searching for reliable information. Trying to understand service dog standards. Trying to find community. Trying not to feel alone.
And I couldn’t ignore it.
As a wife, daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend of veterans, the veteran community has never been distant from me — it has always been personal. Their struggles are not statistics. They are people I love.
